Question: What's your Dream what you can find out in your field of science?

Keywords: ,

  1. I guess that I don’t really have any idea of what I am going to find or what I want to find. It kind of works that I have a general idea of what I am trying to accomplish and as I prepare and analyze samples and generate new data, I revise my expectations, goals and hypothesis. I would like to make a good contribution to scientific literature, of course, but I think there are some more important things to me that I want to accomplish. I would like to be a professor/adviser to students and I really want to convey the enthusiasm and excitement for geology, research and fieldwork to them that my teachers have given to me in the past. Sort of like a pay-it-forward type thing. Also, it would be really cool to travel to the Moon or Mars as a geologist some day 😀

  2. I’d really like to find out as much as I can about foram depth habitats – there’s so many forams that haven’t had their depth habitat constrained and it would be nice to fill in that gap in the literature. I’d also like to learn more about the evolution of Mg/Ca in seawater during the Eocene and Oligocene.

  3. It would be great if we could directly observe the effects of internal waves on an ecosystem! for example, observe that some locations in the ocean are more rich in life (or have more currents) than others because in that specific location these particular kind of waves is more active.
This thing is easy to observe in the laboratory, but the Ocean is so big, and internal waves so difficult to capture in details, that nobody observed a direct impact on an ecosystem.
Other impacts, such as for example, water mixing, is already observed, so why not corals and fish distributions?

  4. My dream is to contribute to the understanding of plate tectonics theory and the natural hazards that are created at plate boundaries. I contribute with my studies of collisions of plates (in the Caribbean and North America margins) and soon with the splitting up of continents in eastern Africa. There are still so many questions and so many discoveries to be made here in Earth, our home, that any contribution will help to mode the science forward and to improve the survival of the humanity.

  5. Hi iloveant,

I do not think that I have a particular question I would like to answer. Basically, I always try to utilise my skills to be able to help the society in general with any work / research I perform. 🙂
