Hi Martina,
The study of statistical seismology (which is my area) is based on a lot of physics, statistics, maths and programming. All of these areas are subjects which I always loved, since I was little.
The general topic of earthquakes was also an area which interested me quite a lot, since it is an area of physics which can influence people’s life much more easily (in case of a natural disaster). Hence, being able to work in an area of forecasting earthquakes is very interesting, both scientifically and also towards the benefit of the society.
