Question: I wanted to ask a question. I wanted to take geology in varsity but then I don't have physics. Is there still hope for me. If not, what can be an alternative that is highly paying and involves geography

Funnily enough I asked a United States Geological Survey geologist the same question you have when I was 17!
Even if you don’t have physics, every university should bring their students up to the same level as each other in every core science (bio, chem, physics), whether thats through extra lectures or a compulsory module taken by everyone. That’s what happened at my university. I also have many friends who hadn’t take physics at A Level and they still all did extremely well at university – lots of them are now working in oil companies and environmental consultancies.But I do agree with the others in that check with the university and just check its not a requirement!

Physics is very important because many geological processes can be explained by physical processes. You would need to find what are the requirements in your school to enter in geology. Perhaps meeting with an advisor there would be helpful. At my university, every science student needs to take physics to advance in their degree programs.

This depends purely on the university’s requirements. I would suggest that you consult with the university, I’m sure they will be more than happy to help you out. In terms of careers using geography, the list is extremely long, it completely depends on which industry you would like to work in.
