My favorite rock is serpentinite. The rock originally formed in the mantle (about 5 km deep or higher) and then it was exposed to water from the oceans. The water changed its minerals and density. Wherever it is exposed (close to subduction zones) the rock has a beautiful texture with green colors and scaly parts which makes it look like snake’s skin (hence the name serpentinite). It is my favorite rocks because of its interesting history and interesting texture.
